Limites (2025)

a thermal camera questions the threshold of conservation: where does the other, living or frozen, begin? In the online journal Trouble dans les collections, researchers Emmanuelle Chérel and Lotte Ardnt explore the question of the morbidity of conservation: chemical products, thermal differences, how are objects from colonial flights molecularly and ontologically transformed ?
Limites uses a thermal camera, a technical device here poetically hijacked, to cast doubt on the limits of bodies. Revolving around the mummified body of Chancellor Nahkti, exhumed in 1903, I question liminality and the transfer from one body to another.
