AVBH is an artist and curator. Her multi-disciplinary practice focuses on questioning the power relations inherited from Western modernity.
Through her curatorial and artistic research (poetry, photography and film), she explores long temporalities and invisible power relations. The scopic relationship and the question of the invisibilisation of testimony inherited from the forensic turn, the question of disturbance and the control of atmospheres run through her practice. Her research aims to combine a practice of poetry and the image, which she assembles in a variety of forms (videos, texts, films, performances, odours).
She has worked for La Colonie (Paris) as curator and programming coordinator, where she has developed a programme that interweaves art, film, activism and research, with a focus on issues of decolonisation and sharing the spoken word. She pursues this work through her collaborations with film programmes and artistic and performance events, both in France and more recently in Palestine (Nablus). She has also worked with BAK, the Berlin Biennale, SATOR Gallery, Flaneur Magazine and POUSH, among others. She is a graduate of EHESS and UAL London. In her recent projects, she explores the question of atmospheres as spaces for creation and political recomposition. In collaboration with the curator Sandra Barré, she has created multidisciplinary encounters using air in exhibitions and odours as research objects to reflect on Western domination. More recently, her research has taken the form of performance pieces, films, installations and visual and olfactory research.
